a new wall, for a new purpose...

as most of you know, we've been working on a pretty big remodel of our kitchen.   there are 3 large projects making up the remodel.

phase one is done--we moved the kitchen to the breakfast room--tons of work, but, i love how it functions and looks.

today, i wanted to share our latest project-phase two.  (you got a sneak peak during my xmas tour of this new space).

phase two--we removed the old kitchen bar half wall and added a full wall.  it gave great room a new spot for the fireplace and sitting area.  such a difference!

this new wall was needed to move on to the last project.

before                                                                                                     after

phase three--the last phase, (in process now), is a walk in pantry (7' x 5' 5") located behind the new wall, in the space where the old kitchen used to be.   now that the colts lost in the play offs, i think i can nudge my husband to finish the pantry:)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and every xmas, my son gets me a hobby lobby gift card.  i found two cute tables this year.  this is one of them.

chippy cuteness:)

love the tray top!

have a great day and thanks for looking!

  2. What a great transition! Your seating area is lovely. And that Hob Lob table is perfect. I never see nice white chippy things there, usually I see darker pieces. Good luck with phase 3!

  3. I love your new wall, Lynn. I have never liked the open kitchen, if company drops in, I don't want my dirty dishes being seen from the living-room :) This is going to give you so many more ways to arrange your room and we girls like to move furniture around :) Your pantry is going to be a dream, how wonderful :) Thanks for visiting my blog and for the friendship and encouragement that you have given me through the years. Good luck on the give-a-way :)
    Your blogging sister,
    Connie :)

  4. How pretty...your new sitting area is wonderful. Love the old enamelware "bucket" of dried hydrangeas and your new "chippy old table" works beautifully in that area.

  6. Wow!!! No wonder we haven't heard from you much over the winter! I love the little seating corner you've created in your great room, Lynn. Your HL table looks like a well worn antique- who'd have guessed?! Good luck with all your construction and I can't wait to see the rest!

  19. I like it, Lynn, and I like the function you are getting on both sides of it, too. I'm not a big fan of those half walls. I'd rather all or nothing in a case like that.

  30. Hi Lynn. That was a great change. Love it. We have plans to take the wall down between the livingroom and the kitchen, but I see now that we loose space. Hmm, I have to think aboat that a while.
    Have a great weekend
