a second life for an old duvet cover…

this dining chair was moved into my craft room—so comfortable!  I removed the seat and back cushions and recovered them with an old “simply shabby chic” duvet cover.  the cover was reversible with two different prints—the pinks and blue are perfect for the room.

and recently, I was given this old chair and I’m hoping to try slipcovering it after christmas.  love the shape, just not the gold and burgundy corduroy!

I don’t think I shared this project yet.  to change up the look of this plain white bookcase, I stapled burlap to the back and randomly covered the burlap with book pages.  (I used tacky glue to attach the book pages to the burlap)

and on the bottom shelf, I used iron-on material to transfer a free graphics fairy image.  

we are going to the “christmas at the zoo” in indy this weekend.  the weather is going to be in the 60’s—yay!   last time we went it was in the 30’s---we froze!  hope you have a great weekend!

tags, bags and a sign...

yesterday, i  spent time in my craft room making this year's xmas gift tags.  the tags were cut from  my die cutter and the cute "vintage finds and crown" stamps are from older papertrey ink sets here and here.  

   and gift card holders are simply a small kraft bag.   the "wish" tag was made for a birthday gift.

the sign was made with simple stories paper subway art and has a tim holtz dress form die with one of my metal tags that says "secret".

it's been a long week and i'm so glad the weekend is here!  

today, i have an old metal crown and chandelier, that were brightened with paint and re-purposed.  both started out a rusty brown color and were found at hobby lobby.

 the crown was removed from a wooden picture frame and added to my chalkboard.

and the chandelier was hung inside a $4 garage sale picture frame. 

i saw a saying on pinterest--"SOMETHING WONDERFUL IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN"...

i think it's my new favorite and i need it cut in vinyl for my wall:)

the beginnings of a pink christmas...

hi everyone,-I always rush christmas.  this year is no different:) 

  this mantel was a headboard last christmas, but, now is a working fireplace.  it has white lights, ivy, and roses on it-simple, bright and cheerful, which is what I like during the dark wintery days.

I shopped my house, and gathered some of my favorite things—

and I painted these frames white.

a crown candle holder-(hobby lobby), became a tree topper.

my chandy got a new coat of paint,

and it brightens a dark corner. the enamel pot was found at a garage sale last summer.

the tree has the cd clock faces that I made,-isn’t the crown key adorable?

and I poured pink paint into some old clear glass bulbs for more color.  there are tiny crowns, bits of tulle tied to the light strands, and lace pieces were for the garland.

some random ornaments--some are just my everyday decorations.

  

that’s all for now, is it looking a lot like christmas where you are?
