chandy birdcages...

hi everyone,  i have a quick post to share my latest project.  these chandeliers inside a birdcage are all over pinterest, and i love the look:)

my husband wired one of my mini chandeliers into this cage, and hung it over my craft table.   it was rusty white, so i didn't have to do anything to it.

here it is lit up.

now, if hanging isn't an option for you, check out this gorgeous table top version by tracie at fishtail cottage.  and her birdcage has a little nest is the bottom of it.  isn't this corner so pretty?  love the ruffled tablecloth, and the sweet pillow, too.

before and after roll over effect...

hi everyone! i just learned how to do a mouse roll over effect for my before and after pictures. its kind of a nice look, and i thought i'd share it with you.  

it takes some extra time to set up on your post, so, i probably won't do it a lot.  i mainly wanted to do it on my post coming up for the "where bloggers create".  

below is the "after" picture of my great room.  just roll your mouse over the picture and it changes to the "before" picture.  (hopefully, i did it right:)

 

to do this, i followed the tutorial here.   its' well written, and i didn't have any trouble following the instructions.  this site has tons of tutorials for spicing up your blog:)

on the shabby table…

it’s curvy, carved and distressed. it holds a tin full of broken china—just waiting for a future mosaic project, a striped runner, a candle and a cloche.

 

inside the cloche, there are a few quick projects—painted peat pots, a chalkboard painted garden marker (10 for 89 cents),

 

also, there is a zinc place card with a melissa frances keyhole embellishment.  LOVE the place cards-you can write on zinc with the chalk, too. 

$6 junk find.

the chandy candle holder is from hobby lobby.

my craft room…

do you have a special place to create? 

I’m joining “where bloggers create 2012” this july, and decided to show what my craft room was like b-4 we decided to move.  it was awesome—everything had a place.

this is another corner of my great room re-do—(the first post is here) I found so much of my inspiration from debra at common ground.  I loved her birdcage posts- here, and here.  I had this hendrix birdcage, that i attached to two shutters.

and you have to see debra’s suitcases here and here-—I just love them!  after finding 3 suitcases, I put them on my stool, which is now wearing an old lace euro sham.

there’s a shelf hanging on this wall—I relocated the dressform to this spot.  with bailey running around, I didn’t think she was safe on the end table.

  the cute umbrella has ruffles all along the edges.  I hung an old pocket watch on the side of it.  

my husband hung a chandelier.

the last spot is my old birdbath end table, that I covered with a glass top.  under the glass is some lace, and I’ll put some pictures in later.  I love the inside of this bath, it looks like old zinc.

entry garden bench…

ok, it’s kind of a bench…  my husband’s been out of town, and couldn’t build one, so, I grabbed two of my garden urns, an old plank board from the garage, and an architectural piece— instant bench!

the bucket is full of fairy roses, some dried, some fresh, and has a piece of the numbered burlap ribbon on the front.  and my chalkboard window found its new home here, too. 

the light coming in the front door was so bright, I went with it and added a milky action to the pics. 

and the random generator picked---keeping it cozy as the winner of my give away!  congrats!!  if you could send me your shipping info by friday, I will send the package to you!  thanks to everyone who entered!

What a fabulous giveaway! Your coaster is amazing... I had no idea this could be done. Thanks for sharing! I am always on the lookout for pretty coasters, so I will have to try this.

essentials…

I was going to use the enamel box in my bathroom to hold towels.  but, when I got it home, it ended up on my wall in the corner of my living room, filled with my hydrangeas.

 it has a metal tag on the front that says “essentials”.  the picture frame was only $4.00 at a garage sale.

  that little tin started a change up of my whole living room:) I added two of my pillars and my table, all which I already had.

I found the dress form sits on a wooden candle pillar.    

the two books hold a mason jar with candles and a clay tag.

 the cloche has a  green wreath for it.  you can see the how to steps below.

and the chippy white iron garden chair is one of two, found at a resale store last fall. I finally made seats for them.

I covered the chair seats with old bank bags (under the wood pieces)
