white garden bench…

yesterday was my bday, and I asked my husband to build me a garden bench. I painted the new bench white, and made cushion for it today.  I recycled 2 old pillow cases and an old outdoor cushion.  (I just slid the pillow cases right over the old cushion).

about 10 years ago, he built this same design, but, when we sold the house, we left it behind with a friend.  here is a pic of that bench.

I added my bday roses and caspia (blue filler) to a ball jar and sat it on an oval mirror, as a tray.

old fashioned clock…

I really like the look of this style of clock, but, didn’t want to spend a lot of money for an antique.  this clock had a shiny gold finish, which I didn’t like, but, for $9.99, I bought it here. 

first, I spray painted in pink, then, I simply rubbed a brown ink over it, to tone it down, and a black ink pad on the edges, to give it a chippy, aged finish.  (the inks I used to the pads used for stamps)

menards also had a tiny clock, ($7.96), which I plan on painting white.

topiary light…

I love anything that reminds me of a garden.  this littlle lamp has faux ivy growing up a metal star frame and its anchored in a clay pot and topped with some moss.

and these rustic sconces were in my son’s bath, in my last house.  (my décor has lightened considerably in my current house.)  see the little sailboat?  it’s a clock!

either of these lights would be an easy, do it yourself project, I think…but then, my husbands an electrician.

ruffled pink tablecloth…

my son gave me an old oak pedestal table for my dining room.  the round shape fits my dining room better than my rectangle table.  anyway, I pulled out my ruffler for my sewing machine, and finally, learned how to use it.  I used an old pink simply shabby chic flat sheet to make 2 sizes of ruffles and attached them to a square topper.

who knew ruffles were so easy to do!

I don’t do much decorating for easter, but I do have a cute set of bunny dishes and a wooden bunny centerpiece.

old window chalkboard…

hi everyone!  today, I wanted to share my chalkboard.    because of  thick paint on the window pane, I took out the pane and my husband used the pane as a pattern on a piece of wood.

this is the before pic.

I painted 3 coats of chalkboard paint on the wood insert, and painted VERY simply roses at the top. here’s how it looks now.  I LOVE it!

the chippy column behind the chalkboard was found in the same store.
