shabby barn door sconce…

here is the latest project.  this is an old barn door and a sconce from lowes.  it just took a hole drilled in the door and wiring of the sconce.

I grouped some things from around the house, to fit around it.  the rusty tin is a new find, and the black metal embossed “junk” letters were found on clearance at michaels.  I just punched holes in them and strung the wire through them.  the wood box below the tin is a drawer-upside down.

here’s a close up of the sconce.  and it didn’t  have the crystals, I added them.

and I had to share this pic of bailey enjoying a chew bone for her first birthday recently—the tongue cracks me up:)

  3. Wow that is so great. I love it all. I am running over to Michaels for those letters. So so cute. You did an awesome job. I have alot of old doors around my house and I do have an old barn door and now you have inspired me to maybe put a sconce on it!!!!!! Thanks for the inspiration.

  14. Happy Birthday Bailey!!! Oh Lynn you have the best eye, that is a great idea! Sometimes if there is something I want, I just buy it regardless of price and that sconce is perfect and well worth it. We save so much with all of our DIY projects that we deserve to treat ourselves!

  15. I am in love with that vignette. My husband is an artist and his studio is in our home which means all of our walls are his gallery. I love his artwork, but sometimes I would like to put something up like an old ladder or an old wood door. At least I can try something like the suitcase.

  19. Your barn door sconce is perfect on your wall! I have old sconce lighting in our house (antique brass) and now I see how much better they would look painted. Of course a little extra bling is always in the mix!
