craft room daybed…

I’ve been working on my craft room, and needed to add a bed to it---this is it.  I’ve always loved daybeds, and when ikea put this clearance for $59.00 last year, I grabbed it.

here’s what it looked like before I painted and sanded it.

I really wanted some sort of awning over it, and came up with this rusty metal one.  I added a fence edging, some ruffled tulle, and a string of white lights for fun.

I used 2 old table legs to hold the tin away from the wall.  at the top, there is a long 1x2 board with hinges attached to the top of the tin.  oh, and I added a couple coats of sealer to the top and underside of the tin panels—to keep the rust from flaking.

the angel wings found a new home on top.

there is a rod with shirred curtains, and a metal framed inspiration board hanging from them.

I’m not sure this is a “headboard”, but, funky junk has a party going on for "funky headboards" and I’m linking this up to it and to some of the parties below:)

and thanks so much for my june feature spots!!

I’ll be back next week and catch up on everyone’s blogs—thanks for looking!

  38. I love what you did with the Ikea daybed. We had the exact same bed but last year I gave it to a friend. Ours had been in the garden and got a wonderful weathered look. She is possibly moving and so the daybed may come back to me!!!! And then I will paint it white and distress it as you have. I will be delighted to have it again.
