in my last post, I showed my guest bedroom re-do. i painted the chair in the room.
I was nervous painting the fabric, but, it turned out great and I’d do this again.
and here’s a better look at my newest stool. I’m developing an addiction to old stools. they are wonderful because they fit where tables won’t and they are easy to move around.
that’s it for today, thanks for looking:)
sharing this with common ground, feathered nest, faded charm, and power of paint.,miss mustardseed and

That chair is an amazing redo! I can't believe it was just fabric paint!! Did you use the same paint on the wood parts? (It looks like you did) I absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the old stools, too. Yours is perfect, chippy and white!
Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog!

That chair is beautiful--I can't believe you painted the fabric. I learn something new everyday!
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't have dared to paint the upholstery before seeing your transformation, but WOW! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou were so brave! I don't know if I would have had the courage to paint the fabric too. :) It looks so pretty in white, wonderful job Lynn!
ReplyDeletePainting the fabric worked so well, and I love the way the upholstery studs look now, as if they were part of the carved wood !
ReplyDeleteAnother couple of gorgeous pieces for your guest bedroom.
LOVE what you did with the chair, Lynn!!! It looks GREAT!!! I've been wanting to try some paint stenciling on some pillows. I'll get to it someday!! (=

Lynn, I am so glad you led me here, you have done so much beautiful work. When we came here, my husband needed work as the work in Trinidad was about gone. I had worked on our house, totally different from yours and definitely not the show stopper yours is, but it was unique in it's own way. I called the listing agent and 3 days later she had someone who was coming in from Denver look at it and it was basically sold. My house was never listed and this was May 2009, only 14 homes had been sold all year. There are blessings we receive when we need them. I am so happy for your husband's new opportunity, although I am sure it is unsettling for you. Have a wonderful Sunday.
ReplyDeleteARe you kidding me! I have done this once but not with this amazing result!''
ReplyDeleteWow!
p.s. Thanks for dropping by! And your sweet comment.
ReplyDeleteOh....I absolutely LOVE that stool! The chair is fabulous, too.....but that stool makes my heart go pitter patter.

I am so excited to have found this post and you through Kari Ann - Thistlewood. This is amazing. I have been looking for a chair similar to yours for my family room makeover. I see them at a good price but pass them over because I was afraid I could not do the upholstery work and didn't want to get a chair at a good price and then have to pay beaucoups of money to have it redone. NOW....I know what to do!!!!! This is great news. Now I can't wait to go back out "hunting". ~ Miles of Smiles ~ Lynn @thevintagenest P.S. Can't wait to get back out this week and look for the chair. Love that entire room!!!!
ReplyDeleteLynn, wowzers! that transformation is off the hook. I have a large two person chair with ottoman that so needs to be reupholstered and I dont have a clue how to do it or the money to make it happen. I love my chair and do not want to do away with it. This just may be my answer for a quick fix. Thanks for the inspiration. I am now following you!
ReplyDeleteWow, Lynn, this is amazing!!!! I never knew you could paint right over fabric on a chair like that :) So cool and the result is just gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteI found you via Thistlewood -- and I really enjoyed looking through your blog. Creativity abounds in your house! I will follow, and look forward to seeing what else you do.
ReplyDeleteI did not even know you could paint fabric! Does it still feel like fabric? Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea! I never would have thought of doing this, but will certainly look at upholstered furniture differently from now on! :)

ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, I just found your blog from French Country Cottage posting about this transformation on her FB page. The chair is absolutely perfect! I'll have to remember that fabric paint next time I look past a piece I think needs reupholstering. What a super idea! I'm now following you. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is PAINT?!? Are you kidding?? GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteI would love if you would link up to my party:http://www.nutmegplace.com/2012/02/show-off-saturday-1.html
Hope to see you there!
After reading everybody else comments, I wonder if there is something wrong with me. I would NEVER have painted that fabric. It was so beautiful before. I think it would have looked better to just paint the wood, but the pictures would have looked perfect in that room, so romantic. I wish I could find a chair like that, I would love to have something with that beautiful pictures on it. Maybe even take the fabric off and frame it and cover the chair with something that you wouldn't mind painting, but I would have never painted that fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love love love it! I love your blog too! I'm your newest follower♥ You go girl♥
ReplyDeleteYour chair is absolutely gorgeous!!! I am so afraid to try painting fabric, I have two that desperately need it. I should start with finding the fabric paint, then go from there.
